WSLA Seeking Treasurer

WSLA is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join our board and oversee the organization’s financial activities. This is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining fiscal integrity, transparency, and accountability. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced with nonprofit finances, and passionate about supporting girls' athletics.

About Us

The Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association (WSLA) is the governing body for girls’ high school and youth lacrosse in Washington State. We support high school teams from WIAA-member schools and club youth teams across both eastern and western Washington. WSLA is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for young athletes to learn, grow, and compete while honoring the game of lacrosse and promoting its growth across our region.

Position Overview

WSLA is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join our board and oversee the organization’s financial activities. This is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining fiscal integrity, transparency, and accountability. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced with nonprofit finances, and passionate about supporting girls' athletics.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of WSLA’s financial operations

• Monthly review of financial records prepared by bookkeeper (currently use QuickBooks)

• Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for the Board of Directors

• Develop and monitor the annual budget

• Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and reporting requirements

• Manage banking, invoicing, and payment processing (not currently; bookkeeper does and reports to MD)

• File annual tax returns

• Collaborate with other board members on financial planning and fundraising efforts

• Executive member of Board; participate in all Board meetings and decision making

• May lead non-financial committees as requested

Qualifications

• Familiar with WSLA and Girls’ Lacrosse

• Background in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping

• Experience with nonprofit financial management preferred

• Understanding of QuickBooks or similar accounting software

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Familiarity with IRS 501(c)(3) compliance (or ability to research as required))

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

• Passion for youth sports and supporting female athletes
